Borno Lawmaker-elect Dies 23 Days After Poll

Nuhu Clark, member-elect for Chibok constituency in the Borno house of assembly died 23 days after he was elected into the parliament.

NAN reports that Clark, who was receiving treatment in India, died on Monday. He was elected alongside others on March 18.

Babakura Abbajatau, commissioner for home affairs, information and culture in the state, confirmed his demise in an interview on Wednesday.

Umar Kadafur, deputy governor of the state, said it is a loss to his immediate family, the people of southern Borno and the entire state.

Kadafur, while expressing his condolence to the family of the deceased, described the death of Clark as a loss to the All Progressives Congress (APC), adding that the late politician contributed to the development of the state.

Clark was the former commissioner for poverty alleviation in Borno.

Clark was said to have resigned his position as the commissioner to contest for Chibok constituency under the APC platform.
