Borno records peaceful governorship polls

Despite being home to Boko Haram, governorship election in Borno state has been largely peaceful today.

WikkiTimes’ correspondent Ali Musa reports that officials of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) arrived most of the polling units at exactly 8:am to start accreditation and voting.

IDPs at various camps also exercised their freedom, as most of the camps remain open for voters.

One of the IDPs in Damasak camp at Mohammed Goni College of Legal and Islamic studies, Umar Mustapha who spoke to WikkiTimes expressed his delight on the way and manner the 2019 general elections were conducted in Borno state inspite of security threats.

Another voter at Mafoni Ward Maiduguri who pledges anonymity said the turn out of voters was impressive, but conceded that it was larger during the Presidential and National Assembly elections.
