Breakdown: North Earned Over N500 Billion from Internal Revenue in 2022

The National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) indicated that the Internally Generated Revenue across the 19 Northern States and Abuja in 2022 stood at N524.7 billion.

While Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Abuja garnered N124.4 billion, Kaduna topped the states list with N58.1 billion followed by Kano (N42.5 billion), Kwara (N35.8 billion), Bauchi (N25.5 billion) and Sokoto State with N23.6 billion.

Kebbi, Taraba and Yobe States are the three least states from the Northern States with N9.1 billion, N10.2 billion and N10.5 billion respectively.

WikkiTimes had earlier reported that Data from NBS revealed that Kaduna State has generated N304.05 billion in its internal sources of revenue in nine years (2014 to 2022) while Kano State garnered N300.8 billion within the period.

NBS revealed that N1.93 trillion was generated across the 36 states in Nigeria, including the Federal Capital Territory in 2022 Internally Generated Revenue.

It further noted that the taxes recorded in the period included Pay As Your Earn, direct assessment, road taxes, stamp duties, capital gain tax, withholding taxes, other taxes and LGAs revenue.
