The Court of Appeal sitting in Jos, the Plateau state Capital has upheld the election of Bala Abdlkadir Mohammed as duly elected Governor of Bauchi State.
In a unanimous judgement delivered on the petition on Friday, a five man panel of the court led by Justice O.A. Otisi, the court dismissed the appeal by the APC and its governorship candidate, Mohammed Abdullahi Abubakar. on ground of lack of merits.
The All Progressives Congress (APC) and its candidate had filed a petition at the Appeal Court against the October 7th judgment of the election petition tribunal.
While delivering the judgement on Friday, the 5 man panel dismissed all the four prayers filed by the APC and its candidate, Mohammed Abdullahi Abubakar.
Justice O. A Otisi held that all the grounds of appeal filed before the court by the appellants lacked merit and were dismissed accordingly.
Counsel to the Bauchi state Governor, Chris Uche described the judgement as a victory for democracy, calling on the people the state to continue to support the administration.
