BREAKING: Bauchi Commissioner of Commerce and Industries resigns

Bauchi State Commissioner for Commerce and Industries, Hon. Mohammed Alhassan Sadiq has resigned.

Hon. Sadiq announced his resignation on his Facebook page on Wednesday night.

“Every beginning has an end, today, the 19th day of August, 2020, I have honourably tendered my voluntary resignation as a Commissioner (Ministry of Commerce & Industries) and a Member of the State Executive Council in the Government of Bauchi State”, the commissioner wrote on his page.

Hon. Sadiq said his resignation was influenced by a former Speaker of the House of Representatives, Hon. Yakubu Dogara.

Mr. Dogara is currently at logger-head with Governor Bala Mohammed.

“I thank H.E the Executive Governor – Sen. Bala A. Mohammed (Kauran Bauchi) for the wonderful opportunity accorded to me. “In the same vein, I must appreciate my boss H.E, the Rt. Hon. Yakubu Dogara for his usual support and the role he played in influencing same.”

“I sincerely thank all my colleagues in the EXCO and the Ministry, whom we have worked with as a formidable team.

“I have enjoyed the Understanding of my family at such a trying time. I beseech God to forgive all my wrongs and the general public/colleagues to pardon me. I urge you to help me, pray God to grant me success, contentment and peace of mind in my new endeavor. Thank you all and remain blessed”, Hon. Sadig wrote on his facebook wall.

Hon. Sadiq is rumored to be a political godson of Yakubu Dogara, the former Speaker.

WikkiTimes recalls that the State Governor Bala Mohammed and the former Speaker are enmeshed in a political thug of war following Dogara’s defection to his former party, the All Progressives Congress.

Dogara who attributed his resignation to lack of performance by the incumbent governor, also cited corruption, maltreatment of traditional rulers among others as reasons for his defection, a claim the ruling PDP disputed, saying Dogara was a nomadic politician whose defection should not worry the party.

Spectators say the resignation of the commissioner may further heat the polity in Bauchi State.
