An appellate court in Yola, the capital of Adamawa State has reinstated Senator Aishatu Ahmed Binani as the governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
A 3-man panel led by justice, Tani Yusuf Hassan, set aside the judgment of the Federal High Court Yola, which sacked Binani as the rightful candidate and ordered APC to resubmit Binani’s name to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) as the governorship candidate.
According to Hassan, the appeal court is ruling on eight issues among which five had been resolved in favour of Binani.
A Federal High Court sitting in Yola had on October 14, nullified the Adamawa APC governorship primary that produced Binani as the governorship candidate of the party.
According to SaharaReporters, Justice Abdul-aziz Anka declared as null and void the election conducted on May 26, 2022 by the APC, adding that the party cannot field any candidate in the 2023 election.
