The Bauchi Police Command has declared Honourable Yakubu Abdullahi Shehu (Wakilin Birni), a lawmaker representing Bauchi federal constituency in the House of Representatives wanted over alleged criminal conspiracy, public peace disturbance and culpable homicide.
The declaration was issued by the authority of the Inspector General of Police (IGP), Usman Alkali Baba, placing the sum of N1 million for one who assist in making the lawmaker apprehended.
WikkiTimes had reported the death of one person while 15 others sustained gunshot and machete injuries during a clash between All Progressive Congress (APC) supporters and Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) at Governor Bala Mohammed’s hometown, Duguri in Alkaleri Local Government Area of the State on March 8.
It was gathered that the gubernatorial campaign of Sadique Baba Abubakar, APC candidate was disrupted, just about five hours after the signing of the peace pact by gubernatorial candidates at the Bauchi Police Headquarters.
“He is wanted in connection with a case of criminal conspiracy, causing grievous hurt, inciting disturbance of public peace and culpable homicide,” the command said.
Hon Yakubu was fingered by the ruling Peoples Democratic Party PDP over the Duguri APC/PDP attack which claimed at least one life and left 14 others injured.
The lawmaker has a pending legal brawl with Wikkitimes which started in 2022 over the story the medium published on the scenario that led to the death of the former Bauchi LG APC Chairman, Musa Gwabba.
Last week’s clash between the two political parties at Duguri, the governorof Bala Mohammed’s hometown continued to generate a feud between Bala’s camp and tthat of his closest rival Sadique baba Abubakar of the APC.
While APC insisted that the ruling PDP had sponsored the thugs and attacked their governorship candidate with guns, the PDP alleged that the opposition is desperate to clinch the seat even in the bloody approach.
Hon Yakubu could not secure the ticket for the seat but is one of the forefront campaign members of Mr Sadique who is eying governor Bala’s seat.
