BREAKING: Who staff tests positive for Covid-19 in Bauchi

A staff of the World Health Organization in Bauchi State has tested positive for coronavirus, a statement from the office of Bauchi State Commissioner for Health Dr. Aliyu Mohammed Maigoro has said.

Dr. Aliyu Maigoro said the ministry of health has decontaminated the offices of UNICEF/WHO and has sealed them temporarily.

The commissioner said the closure of the UNICEF/WHO offices was necessary in order to “de-escalate the spread of the virus in the state.”

The WHO staff in Bauchi who tested positive for the virus has reportedly travelled to Kano in recent days.

The statement said his contacts both in Kano and Bauchi State have been identified and isolated “and they are under strict follow ups and surveillance”.

The statement added the UNICEF/WHO offices will remain close for two weeks and would be strictly manned by the state government.

WikkiTimes reports that Bauchi state now has two active cases of coronavirus, and 5 people have recovered from the virus and have since been discharged.
