Bulkachuwa abruptly closes defence against Farouk Mustapha, presents mean evidence

Adamau Bulkachuwa, Senator representing Bauchi North Senatorial district who is also the husband to the President of the Court of Appeal, Zainab Bulkachuwa has closed his defence against the candidate of the New Nigeria People’s Party, NNPP, Hon. Farouq Mustapha.

It would be recalled that the petitioners; Farouk Mustapha and the New Nigeria People’s Party, NNPP closed their case on the 30th of July 2019 when the respondents, Adamu Muhammad Bulkachuwa, of the All Progressives Congress, APC and the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC were given 5th, 6th and 7th days of August 2019 by the tribunal to open and close their defence.

It was a drama of some sort when Bulkachuwa’s witness pretended to be blind while undergoing cross examination by counsel to Farouk Mustapha, Joe Dappa.

Adamu Bulkachuwa presented his campaign director, Abdulqadir Isawa as the only start witness in the case, as against his opponent who presented many witnesses in addition to the 745 exhibits presented in previous sittings.

WikkiTimes reports that Farouk Mustapha had tendered before the tribunal, electoral documents that included results declared at all polling units in the seven LGAs of the constituency, card readers’ printout reports, candidates’ list for senate and voters’ registers as part of evidence that justifies the alleged electoral fraud.

Farouk Mustapha had expressed confidence in winning the case despite the influence of Adamu within the judicial circle, being husband to Zainab Bulkachuwa, President of the Court of Appeal.

The tribunal, presided by Justice Hafsa AbdulRahman adjourned the petition to the 21st of August 2019 for adoption of written addresses by the parties.
