CAN Seeks Prayers Over Hardship

The Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), Bauchi State branch has asked for fervent prayers for God’s intervention to allay the current economic hardships and sufferings of Nigerians.

Federal Government in May this year announced the removal of fuel subsidy which affected prices of commodities as the cost of transportation shut up.

For the first time in nearly two decades, inflation in Nigeria reached 24.08 percent in July against 22.79 percent in June this year, eroding savings and plunging families into untold hardships.

Food inflation, which treasures the chunk share of Nigeria’s inflation figure stood at 26.98 percent in July against the previous figure of 25.25 percent in June.

WikkiTimes in a report that prices of staple foods, on which more than half of families rely, increase multiple folds. For instance, a measure of local rice goes for between N1,100 to N1,200; maize sells at N900 and soya beans go for N600.

Bauchi State CAN Chairman, Reverend Abraham Damina Dimeus said Nigeria @63 is bedeviled with many challenges but seeking God’s face can bring succour.

He said the only pronounced quality Nigeria is enjoying today is Unity, but challenged people to turn to God and be their brothers’ keepers at all times.

The Chairman in the state appreciated God for Bauchi State and particularly Governor Bala Mohammed who is fighting tooth and nail to secure the state to be reckoned as one of the most peaceful.

Speaking on the theme of the prayer “His Faithfulness Never Fails”, the guest preacher Reverend Yohanna Daniel said God cannot compromise his standard and Nigeria can be better if the leaders and believers stop compromising.

He lamented that  Nigeria at 63 is still battling with many challenges despite being richly blessed because they only regard God in words and not truely in deeds adding that God remains faithful and will forgive when the country turns back to him.

WikkiTimes recalls that the Federal Government announced a N5bn palliative for each of the 36 states and FCT to ameliorate the current difficult times Nigerians face. More than a month after the declaration, states confirmed receiving only N2bn.
