CBN moves to build modern hospital in Bauchi

The Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) said on Friday that it has perfected plans to build a modern diagnostic and treatment centre in Bauchi state.

The Director medical services department of the Apex Bank, Dr Mohammed Ahmed Shehu disclosed this while addressing Journalists on the plan in Bauchi.

He noted that Bauchi state government has allocated a plot of land measuring 6,200 square meters, close to games village in the state capital for the project.

The Director said that the facility would be used not only for admitting patients but a centre for diagnoses, advanced diagnoses and treatment of patients with different ailments.

According to Shehu, the centre if established, will be able to carry out specialized services that is not found in other health facilities in the state.

“The hospital, when built is also going to carry out services such as magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), scans and some advanced laboratory investigations”, he said.

While noting that CBN has constructed similar facilities in Kano and Ibadan, the director hinted that services in the hospital will be free of charge to the bank’s staff, their dependents and people of the host community.

“The facility in actual concept is for the staff, their dependents and people of the Bauchi community as part of CBN’s corporate social responsibility”, he further explained.

The Director who said that treatment will be free added that Central bank has been doing a lot of things in terms of agriculture and other sectors of the economy.

Shehu while expressing optimisms that if Bauchi state will have a very big diagnostic centre such as the one been proposed, it will be able to do some of the tests that is not found available around.
