Child Trafficking: How Policewoman Abducted Two-Week-Old Baby, Four Other Children in Sokoko

A policewoman serving in Abuja identified as ASP Kulu Dogonyaro has allegedly abducted five children, including a two-week-old baby and four other toddlers in Kwannawa community in Sokoto metropolis.

The incident unfolded when ASP Kulu boarded a commercial vehicle en route to Abuja from Alu motor park in Dandima in Sokoto, carrying the victims accompanied by her associate, also identified as Elizabeth Ojo on Saturday, April 27, 2024.

Abba Danbaba, one of the passengers told Aminiya, that the journey began with Elizabeth initially paying for three seats, claiming additional passengers would join later. Upon reaching Kwannawa, Kulu arrived with a baby girl and four other children.

“As soon as we reached Kwanawa, we saw a woman with a baby on her back beside four other children who joined us.”

“We began to suspect her when she could not provide breastfeeding to the baby despite her intense cry and being just a weeks-old baby.”

“The suspicion escalated among the passengers when we stopped at Funtuwa town to buy food.

“After arriving in Abuja, the two women indicated that they were going to stop at Deidei town, but the driver refused to stop there, so he stopped at the next town called Kagini where they were reported to the police station at Gwagwa.

The two suspects claimed innocence, maintaining that the children were placed in their care by someone named Bala in Sokoto.

Danbaba added that the case was transferred to Sokoto State’s police headquarters for further investigation, but expressed concern over the potential abandonment of the search in Deidei in Abuja to possibly rescue more children and hold the suspects accountable.

S.P. Josephine Adeh, the spokesperson of the Abuja Police Command confirmed the incident, assuring that investigations would be conducted.
