Gov. Bello Matawalle of Zamfara state has reiterated the commitment of his administration to promote children’s education and development in the state.
Matawalle stated this on Thursday, at the Sardauna Memorial Stadium, Gusau, at an event to mark the 2021 children’s day organised by the state Ministry for Women and Children Affairs.
The Governor, represented by the Secretary to the State Government, Alhaji Bala Bello, said his administration was in the process of developing more sound policies and programmes aimed at improving children’s wellbeing.

“It is the conviction of the present administration that children’s education deserved all attention, if we are to groom our future leaders and professionals.
“This is why our administration is targeting heavily in building classrooms in schools, providing teaching and learning resources, training and retraining of teachers.
“Our hope is that one day, our children will succeed and become good leaders of tomorrow”, Matawalle said.

He assured that the state government would continue to protect children’s rights, in accordance with Islamic principles, in order to prevent them from falling victims of social vices.
In her address of welcome, the State Commissioner for Women and Children Affairs, Hajiya Zainab Lawal, commended the governor for initiating policies and programmes in support of women and children in the state.
Lawal assured of the ministry’s commitment to continue to partner with all stakeholders for the development of women and children in the state. (NAN)
