Cholera Outbreak Kills 7 in Jigawa

A cholera outbreak has struck Kirikasamma local government area of Jigawa State, killing seven people and left many others hospitalized.

The outbreak, confirmed by Primary Healthcare Coordinator Musa Abdullahi Diladige, has ravaged several communities, including Malori, Maikintari, Dilmari, Kirikasamma, and parts of Baturiya village.

According to Diladige, victims are suffering from severe symptoms, including diarrhea, cramps, nausea, vomiting, and fever. Health personnel have been dispatched to the affected areas to provide emergency medical services.

The local government has swiftly responded by purchasing essential drugs and medicines for urgent treatment. Director of Administration and General Services Idris Gambo Abubakar has pledged to provide all necessary assistance to combat the spread of the disease.

The recent torrential rainfall in the area is believed to have triggered the outbreak, causing buildings to dilapidate and water sources to become contaminated.
