Concerned citizens beg President Buhari to site FCE in Ningi LG

Concerned citizens of Ningi local government area of Bauchi state have made a passionate appeal on President Muhammau Buhari, minister of Education and other authorities concerned to site a federal college of education in Ningi.

The call by the concerned citizens came following the federal government’s approval to establish Federal College of Education in Bauchi state.

While outlining some of the potentialities of the area in a vox pop conducted by our correspondent, some residents of Ningi noted that the local government covers an area of 4,625 km with a population of 368,997, ranked 2nd in Bauchi state, 3rd in northeast and 26th in the country in the 2006 Census.

They reminded the President that Bauchi Central, particularly Ningi local government is left behind in terms of Federal institutions, stressing that Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University, ATBU, Federal Polytechnic, Airforce University, Federal Government Girls College FGGC, Federal Government College, FGC Azare are all located in Bauchi North and Southern zones of the state.

They also called on the Minister of education Malam Adamu Adamu and Executive Secretary of National Commission for Colleges of Education, NCCE Professor Bappa Aliyu, to reflect the yearning and aspiration of the good people of Ningi local government to site the college in the area.

According to them, the institution can be established through executive action or legislation, adding that a member representing Ningi/Warji Constituency has already sponsored a bill for the establishment of the College in Ningi which has passed second reading in the floor of the house of representatives.

While applauding the efforts of the member representing Ningi/Warji in the house of representatives, Hon. Abdullahi Sa’ad Abdulkadir for sponsoring the bill seeking for the establishment of FCE Ningi and Federal College of Agriculture Warji, the concerned citizens called for synergy between the executive and the legislative so as to achieve the targeted goals.

They noted with delight that when the College is realized, people of Ningi will never forget a credible, all inclusive and transparent leadership of President Muhammadu Buhari, Minister of education Mal. Adamu Adamu, Executive Secretary of National Commission for Colleges of Education, NCCE, Prof Bappa Aliyu and the concerned stakeholders.

The residents further said the gesture will guarantee efficient delivery of dividends of democracy to the nook and crannies of the country.
