Conditional Cash Transfer: Bauchi Beneficiaries Receive N20,000 Jan-April Backlog Payment

The beneficiaries of the Federal Government`s Household Upliftment Programme, Conditional Cash Transfer (HUP-CCT), in Bauchi State have started receiving N20,000 in payment for the backlog of January to April arrears.

This is coming at the heels of the flagging up ceremony for the programme in Abuja by Hajiya Sadiya Umar Farouk, Minister of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management and Social Development.

Mal. Jibrin Mohammed Fanti, National Programme Coordinator, NPC, said that the Head of Cash Transfer Unit of the programme in Bauchi started making the payment to the beneficiaries at Yelwan Duguri Payment Centre, ALkaleri Local Government Area.

He enjoined the beneficiaries to make judicious use of the money by spending it wisely on the provision of food for their family and also engaging in income-generating ventures to enable them to continue reaping the dividends of the project.

WikkiTimes learned that beneficiaries from Bauchi local government were being paid in cash while those from Misau and Katagum would be paid through Digital Payments channels.

The remaining LGAs of Alkaleri, Kirfi, Dass, Tafawabalewa, Bogoro, Toro, Ganjuwa, Ningi, Darazo, Dambam, Jama’are, Zaki, Gamawa and Itas Gadau will gradually key into the newly introduced payment methods.

At least 54,0721 are to benefit from the programme with an additional 10,000 is given to participating households of HUP on compliance for selection of hard co-responsibility of girlchild education.

Total Amount to be Disburse in Bauchi State for both base and top up Transfer is N1, 200,540,000 One Billion Two Hundred Million Five Hundred and Forty Thousand Naira Only.

The payment is been conducted in two categories, Through the Payments Service Providers (PSP) Agents and Digital payment platforms.

The exercise which started on Thursday 26th August 2021 is expected to end on Sunday 5th September 2021 as stated on the timetable for the payment of the stipends across the 20 LGA, in 209 Payment Centers surrounding the beneficiaries’ communities.
