Consolidated Salary: Health Workers Drum For Full Implementation In Bauchi

Health workers in Bauchi State under the aegis of the ‘Medical and Health Workers Union of Nigeria’ (MHWUN) have called on the Bauchi state government to implement fully, the ‘Consolidated Salary Structure’ for medical and health workers in the state.

Comrade Biobelomeye Joy Josaya, National President of the union made the call Tuesday during the northeast zonal meeting of the union held in Bauchi.

Represented by the national treasurer of the union Comrade Auwal Kyawa, the president said considering the essential services they render in society, medical and health workers need motivation.

The Bauchi state chairman MHWUN Comrade Dauda Shuaibu explained that the meeting was a forum for the members to interact with government officials as part of steps to improve industrial harmony and cordial relationship between the union and the state government.

He advocated for a regular meeting between the government and labour which he says will enable the government to regularly get opinions and views of members to ensure effective health care delivery.

Dauda lamented that state auditors tamper with the negotiated allowances of health workers without consultation or recourse to round table discussion.

Alhaji Yahuza Adamu Haruna, the state head of civil service said the government gives priority to the health sector assuring that his office would work towards the implementation of the consolidated salary structure of health workers.
