Constituents Plan to Recall Rep. Ranga Over Poor Performance

Ningi/Warji constituents in Bauchi state have perfected plans to start a recall process against Hon. Adamu Hashimu Ranga, their representative in the House of Representatives, citing poor performance and lack of quality representation.

The Ningi/Warji Youths Coalition, a civil society organization, alleged that Ranga has failed to sponsor any meaningful motions or attract projects to the constituency, despite their overwhelming support during his election.

The group, led by Comrade Kamilu Barau, in a chat with WikkiTimes claimed that Ranga’s performance is below expectation and that they have made necessary arrangements to request his recall through the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

Barau said the constitution provides that “a member of the senate or house of representatives may be recalled if a petition signed by more than one-half of registered voters is presented to the chairman of the INEC alleging loss of confidence”.

“The petition is thereafter, in a referendum conducted by the INEC within ninety days of the date of receipt of the petition, approved by a simple majority of the votes of the persons registered to vote in that member’s constituency,” he said.

Barau said the constituents have made all the necessary arrangements and will soon start the process to recall the lawmaker.

The chairman said Ningi and Warji are among the LGAs that lack quality representation.

“The constituents note with dismay the performance of the lawmaker in the federal house of representatives is below expectation,” Barau added.

He said the member failed woefully in providing good representation to the good people of the constituency.

“We call on all lovers of democracy, good governance, security, and effective representation in the national assembly to come out en masse and endorse the recall of Hon. Ranga.

On Senator

On possibility of doing the same their senator, the group said “we don’t have such a plan against the Senator representing the Bauchi central zone because he is performing actively in the red chamber, and even executed some solar installation projects in his constituency”.

Barau lamented that since Hon. Ranga’s election as the member he never sponsored a motion beneficial to Ningi/Warji constituents, adding that “no single project for even one million naira was executed by the member as constituency project.”

He said they are yet to file any request letter to the INEC, but “henceforth all the arrangements are on top gear.”

It’s Sponsored – Ranga’s Aide

However, Ranga’s media aide, Comrade Rislana Yunusa Kaura, dismissed the allegations as null and void, claiming that the organization is fake and sponsored to discredit Ranga.

Kaura highlighted some of Ranga’s achievements, including sponsoring motions on insecurity and education, and facilitating training and scholarships for constituents.

“I want you to understand that the Union is fake because there is no such organization across Ningi and Warji. It has no member in Warji. They’re sponsored to discredit our leader due to his brighter policies”.

“Every citizen has the right to comment on the process of democracy right from his locality up to the national level,” he added.

“Hon. Ranga also sponsored a motion on the provision of Federal College of Agriculture and Federal University in his constituency which scaled a first reading and Sponsored 42 people from his constituency who were trained on Solar installation for 6 weeks in Kano State,” said Kaura.

He further stated that Hon Ranga Sponsored 3 students, one from Burra, one from Ningi and the other one from Warji to study abroad and many more are coming.

On capital projects to the constituents, Kaura argued that all the projects facilitated by members including Ranga are yet to be given fundings from the 2024 budget.
