Court Restrains Benue From Privatising State’s Transport Company

Most Read

A Benue State high court sitting in Makurdi on Wednesday restrained the Benue State government from going on with its plan to privatise the state-owned transport company known as “Benue Links.” Daily Trust reports.

The court gave the ruling in an application for interim orders filed by the Amalgamated Union of Public Corporations, Civil Service, Technical and Recreational Services Employees (AUCTPRE) and three others pending the determination of the motion on notice.

The respondents are Governor Samuel Ortom and the attorney general of the state and three others.

Our correspondent reports that the state government had in August put up 25 of its public assets classified as moribund for outright sale or concessions including Benue Links.

Justice Theresa Igoche granted the order after hearing the application moved by counsel to the plaintiffs, Imoter Gbim-Gbande, and fixed the hearing for December 3.
