The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) Bauchi State Command has apprehended two cousins for allegedly stealing two bags of unprocessed rice.
The suspects, identified as Ahmed Bala, 28, and Tahir Bala, 20, were paraded by the Commandant, Oyerinde Nelson, at the NSCDC Command Headquarters, Bauchi.
The suspects also allegedly assaulted a woman sexually in a neighborhood.
Commandant Nelson condemned the actions of the suspects and urged Bauchi youths, especially students, to avoid criminal behaviour that could bring disgrace to their families and communities.
“Youth must steer clear of these crimes that not only harm others but also disgrace themselves and their families,” he cautioned.
The Commandant expressed particular disappointment that Ahmed Bala, one of the suspects, was a security officer with a private unit in Ningi, stressing that legal action would soon be taken to bring them to book.
He reassured the public of the NSCDC’s commitment to maintaining safety and order across Bauchi State.
The suspects Ahmed and Tahir Bala confessed to their involvement in the rice theft and assault, expressing regret for their actions.
Tahir, a student, admitted that they made a poor decision and apologised for their misconduct.
