COVID-19: Bauchi Govt. discharges 3 patients

The State Deputy Governor,Senator Baba Tela announced this while briefing newsmen at Government HouseBauchi.

Baba Tela who is the Chairman ofthe Task Force on COVID-19- and Lassa Fever said the remaining two patientswill also soon be discharged.

He disclosed the approval of 1.98million naira for the procurement of virus transport medium in addition to theongoing contribution from individuals.

The deputy governor used themedium to announce the closure of two Friday markets in an effort to controlthe spread of the virus.

On the fight against Lassa feverin the state, Senator Baba Tela said Governor Bala Mohammed has approved twentyN25 million for the control of the disease.

Similarly, the Management ofBauchi State University Gadau has donated fifty cartons of hand sanitizers aspart of its corporate social responsibility to compliment the efforts of thestate government in tackling the spread of coronovirus.

The deputy governor furtherexplained that out of the five remaining cases sent for reevaluation, 2 thathave been in isolation were tested negative twice and they will be possibly dischargedsoon.

“So, what we are saying nowis that as at Thursday 17th, Bauchi state has only 2 cases on admission and oneof them have done his 14 days and we will send his sample for testing while thesecond one his first testing came out negative and we are sending his samplefor the second test after which he will be discharge if it turns out negativethe second time”, he said.

He further explained that a totalof 160 samples have been taken, adding that they are tracing over 400 contacts.

Baba Tela then disclosed that thestate has been able to procure 1000 pieces of the medium used to convey thesamples to NCDC office in Abuja for tests saying that the development will nowease transporting of the sample.

He announced that First CityMonument Bank (FCMB) has donated the sum of N500,000 to fight coronovirus viruswhile Church of Christ in Nations (COCIN), State university Gadau donated handsanitizers and facemasks and other personal protective gears to help combat thedisease.
