Bauchi State University Gadau has donated 50 cartons of hand sanitizers to the state taskforce fighting coronavirus.
Dr. Yahaya Katagum who represented the Vice Chancellor ofthe University, said the university deemed it necessary to provide thesanitizers and other materials as part of support to the ongoing fight against thenovel virus.
He said the university has already taken steps to assist thestate government to control the menace of COVID-19.
“Universities are the bedrock of research andknowledge, so in this respect and with the outbreak of COVID-19, the universityhas taken steps to come forward and assist authorities tackle the menace of the
virus.“In this respect, the university deemed its necessaryto provide hand sanitizers and other materials and we will continue tocontribute in several ways”, Dr. Katagum said.
He said scientists in the university were in laboratories tocome up with a plan for further support.
The State DeputyGovernor, Senator Baba Tela who is the Chairman of the taskforce on COVID-19applauded the university for the gesture.
