Ibrahim who granted the interview with newsmen in Gombe, added that the sector’s enforcement is alongside public enlightenment and advocacy visit.

According to him, “in all the points where commuters are transported from, there should be provisions for washing of hands and use of sanitizers.

“Motor parks should make provision for waiting places and they should be well sanitized as well as ensure the use of face masks”, he maintained.

“Vehicles are expected to carry passengers half of the capacity they used to carry. A 13-seater bus carrying 13 people in the pre covid-19 period are now directed to carry 9 passengers”, he said.

The sector commander said further that, “it was initially 3-3-3-3-1 but now should be 2-2-2-2-1, to allow for adequate spacing and safety. For a 4 seaters salon vehicle, which carried 4 persons should now Carry 2 persons 2-1.”

Ishaku who decried that illegal motor parks have become an albatross in the enforcement of guidelines, said FRSC is working with the State government to ensure that motor parks that are not legally pronounced are eliminated.

“The State government has set up task force for illegal motor parks to be prosecuted and the FRSC is a member”, he stated.

While appreciating the effort of Governor Inuwa Yahaya in securing residents of the state, the sector commander said FRSC will ensure that road crashes are reduced.

He assured that all preventive efforts would be employed by the command to see that Gombe state records less crashes.
