Covid-19: Gombe bans commercial motorcycles, orders tricycles to carry one passenger at a time

As part of measures to contain the spread of coronavirus disease, the Gombe state government has placed a ban on commercial motorcycle operators, popularly known as Okada or Achaba in state.

Governor Mohammed Inuwa Yahaya of the state who placed the order said it is with effect from 6 pm of Tuesday 27th April, 2020.

Governor Yahaya however, said that tricycles, otherwise known as Keke NAPEP operators are allowed to carry only one adult passenger at a time.

In addition, Governor Yahaya said all calls for Muslim prayers are allowed only to notify the faithful of the time of prayers and not for observing congregational prayers in the mosques.

“All persons responsible for calls to prayers should clearly mention in Arabic and local languages so that people should observe their prayers in their respective homes”, the Governor further ordered.

He noted that, in line with provisions of the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control ( NCDC), everyone is strongly advised to wear face mask at all the times.
