The Nigerian Air Force Officers’ Wives Association (NAFOWA) on Friday distributed palliatives to the Gubi women community, as part of efforts to encourage the stay at home policy of the Bauchi State government.
Speaking during the distribution ceremony, the NAFOWA
National President, Hajiya Hafsat Abubarkar said the distribution of thepalliatives was to mark the 56th anniversary of the Nigerian AirForce.Represented by the Chairperson Special Operations Command ofthe Association in Bauchi, Mrs Jummai Ohwoo, Abubakar said the donation wasdone in furtherance of NAFOWA’s motto of “Service to Humanity.”
She said usually reach out to the less privileged women intheir host Communities during such celebrations.
Jummai said the palliatives are part of efforts to alleviatethe hardships being experienced by citizens especially women and children.
“As a result of the lockdown imposed to combat the spread ofthe novel coronavirus we deem it necessary to support our host communities”,she said.
She said the palliatives distributed include rice, vegetableoil, beans, semovita, noodles amongothers to women OF Gubi community.
The president of the Association reiterated that they cannotafford to forget their neighbors who are their host Community.
Mrs Abubakar advised the women to adhere strictly to allprecautionary measures aimed at eradicating the Pandemic.
Mrs Lami Kawule in a vote of thanks on behalf of thebeneficiaries described the donation “as one of the best in recent memories”.
“I can tell you that these food items will help meparticularly during this month of Ramadan because the partial lockdown of thestate government has reduced the purse of my husband”, she said.
She thanked the Nigeria Air Force Wives’ Association for thedonation, urging them to sustain such relationships with their hostcommunities.
