Crescent moon Not Sighted in Nigeria ‘Due To Cloud’ – Moon Sighting C’ttee

The Moon Sighting Committee of the Sultan of Sokoto, Alhaji Sa’ad Abubakar III, has said that it has not received a report from any part of the country about the sighting of the crescent for Muharram 1443.

The committee said this was due to the current weather condition prevalent in most cities and towns all over the country.

Therefore, this Sunday marks the 29th day of Dhul-Hijjah – the last month of the Islamic calendar.

Consequently, the month of Muharram is sought after on the last day of Dhul-Hijjato mark the beginning of the new Islamic year, 1443 after the migration of Prophet Mohammad Peace Be Upon Him from Mecca to Medina.

However, Saudi Arabia already declared Tuesday 10th August 2021 to be the 1st day of Muharram 1443because the moon was not sighted in the country on Sunday evening.
