CSOs Praise Gov. Bala for Women Inclusion in Government, Task Political Parties on Gender Equality

Leadtots Development Innitiative and Young Leaders Network have commended Governor Bala Abdulkadir of Bauchi State for appointing more women as Commissioners and Special Advisers in his government.

The two civil society Organisations gave the commendation in a joint statement signed by their Executive Directors, Mr. Seun Justin Onarinde and Mr. Nicholas Oshojah Afeso, which was made available to WikkiTimes on Wednesday.

The CSOs recounted the extent of women inclusion in government in Bauchi State prior to the emergence of Governor Bala led administration as being “very low.”

The CSOs postulate that the inability of previous Bauchi governors to give women more space created and complicated the problem of non representation of women in government thereby leading to their disenfranchisement.

The CSOs said Governor Bala Abdulkadir “having fully grasped the need to translate the available women resources, ideas, strength, and aspirations into tangible wealth for overall development of the state, appointed three women as Commissioners.

“Governor Bala has deemed it fit to give more women space to participate in decision making of Bauchi State has appointed Hajara Gidado, Commissioner for Women Affairs, Maryam Garba Bagel, Commissioner for Commerce and Industry and Dr. Asma’u Ahmed Giade, Commissioner for Culture and Industry,” the statement read in part.

The CSOs, however demanded that more opportunities be giving to women and youths in internal leadership slots available within the structures of political parties operating in Bauchi State.
