The police in Kwara State have said that they have identified personnel involved in Wednesday’s alleged murder of a polytechnic student in Ilorin.
Ejire Adeyemi Toun, Kwara State Police Public Relations Officer, said the command has commenced thorough investigation and that actors and witnesses have been identified, assuring that the perpetrators will be brought to book.
Adeyemi, in a statement via her X(formerly Twitter) handle, said the command is commitment to transparency in the ongoing investigation, adding that they will conduct the process with the utmost integrity, leaving no room for doubt or compromise.
“Following the incident, a thorough investigation has already commenced, and actors and witnesses have been identified,” she said.
“The Kwara State Police Command is fully dedicated to uncovering the facts of the matter and ensuring that those responsible, are brought to justice in accordance with the law”, she said.
Abdulqoyum Ishola, a 21-year-old Electrical Engineering student of Kwara State Polytechnic, Ilorin was allegedly shot dead by police officers last Wednesday, when students of the polytechnic protested hike in fuel prices.
WikkiTimes learnt that there was massive condemnation by the students of the polytechnic following the incident, demanding an end to series of assaults and maltreatment of the students.
Adeyemi further said the Police Command is mindful of its duty to serve and protect, appealing for calm from the aggrieved students and allow the law to take its course.
“We appeal to the public, the student’s community and those directly impacted, to remain calm and allow the law to take its rightful course. While emotions may be high, we urge everyone to avoid actions that could hinder the investigation or disrupt public order”, she appealed.
