Defrauded By Scammers, Man Bequeaths Notes Before Committing Suicide In Niger

Mustapha Yakubu, a resident of Angwan Gwari Kwamba in Suleja Local Government Area of Niger Staite penned an apologetic note for his loved ones before taking a poisonous substance on Tuesday.

The young man, who is reported to be in his 20s, was allegedly defrauded by scammers, according to a discrete source. He would gulp the substance suspected to be Sniper insecticide brand and died in his room afterwards, Daily Trust reported.

Neighbours later found his body alongside an empty bottle of the poisonous substance with a suicide note in his room.

“Sorry. I end am like this,” the suicide note reads, as availed to the press by a source.

According to the deceased’s neighbour, Jegede Badmus, Yakubu’s relatives removed his remains and buried him according to Islamic rites.

Badmus expressed shock over the incident, saying it was mysterious that a young man like him could commit suicide. He added that no one could have known the motive of the victim.

He said: “We were all shocked when we discovered what happened because he was good to everyone. I wonder what could have been the reason for his action. Someone that was just starting life. He’s not even up to 30.

“As soon as the discovery was made, his relatives here in Suleja came around and took his body for burial. It was very obvious it was a suicide case.”

This comes a week after WikkiTimes reported that a Suleja-based man simply identified as Niyi committed suicide after killing his wife for extramarital affairs.
