The Speaker of Kaduna State House of Assembly, Alhaji Yusuf Zailani, has admonished Nigerians to shun protests being planned by some people to mark Democracy Day.
In a statement issued on his behalf by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Ibrahim Danfulani, the Speaker said efforts should be geared towards uniting the country. “
We should thank God that we have experienced 22 years of uninterrupted democracy, “This is a time to rally round as a nation and take advantage of our diversity to preach peace and unity to guarantee the progress of our dear country, Nigeria,” he said.
He therefore advised Nigerians to be wary of those trying to use them as instruments of retrogression by calling for a nationwide protest.
Zailani congratulated President Muhammadu Buhari and all Nigerians for attaining the feat of 22 years of uninterrupted democracy, just as he expressed optimism that the country would progress further.(NAN)
