Despite the threats posed by the dreaded Coronavirus pandemic, a total of 128 health workers at the general hospital Azare did not receive their salaries for three months.
Hon. Tijjani Aliyu, member representing Azare/Madangala constituency at the Bauchi State House of Assembly says, “Every day I receive calls from more than 50 people that their salary is not paid. About 128 workers in General Hospitals Azare didn’t get their salary for 3 months.
Tijjani Aliyu who is the Majority Leader of the House during a plenary on Tuesday warned that, “That’s the problem that cost the previous administration election. There is mess in the issue of salary and urgent action should be taken”, he argued.

Aliyu said who was irked by what he calls “non-payment of salaries”, argued that; “We have invited the head of service, accountant general and they told us that the Governor has established a salary committee to solve all problems of salary, but things are getting worse.”
A summary of the Assembly’s proceedings sent to WikkiTimes quoted Tijjani Aliyu as saying that “as representatives of the people we won’t stay here enjoying all goodies while our people are not paid their meagre salaries.”
Tijjani who moralizes his debate “reminded his colleagues that they will go back to Almighty and give account on this and no one will save them”, the summary of the proceedings added.

” Months back we went and met the Governor about the issue of salary and he listened to us and understood us but there is no improvement, in fact the problem is persisting.
“I have never seen a situation where one ministry will get their salary this week and another ministry next week. Things are getting worse. There is problem o”, he further lamented.
WikkiTimes reports that the series of verification exercises conducted by the Bauchi State government has yet to address the persistent workers’ salaries imbroglio.
