Dilapidated structures, inadequate water supply mar Toro science school in Bauchi, says Alumni

The president of the Old Boys Association of Government Science Secondary School, Toro, Malam Tanimu Umar has identified inadequate water supply, dilapidated staff quarters and non-functional laboratory as some of the key challenges bedevilling the school.

Malam Umar who was speaking during the 11th general meeting of the association at the weekend, appealed to the state government to look into the matter.

He explained that the purpose of the meeting was to enable the old boys reunite with one another, exchange pleasantries and discuss the problems facing the school with a view to surmounting them.

On his part, the Emir of Dass, Alhaji Usman Bilyaminu Othman described immorality among students, especially in secondary schools as a source of worry and concern.

The Emir who is a former student of the school recalled that students were more obedient to their teachers, seniors and were disciplined during their school days.

Emir Othman who lamented the indulgence into drug addiction of young students in schools across the country said that the situation was becoming so alarming.

The Emir who advocated for the restoration of those virtues in boarding schools tasked teachers to inculcate both knowledge and good values in their students so that they can be responsive and responsible citizens of the society.

The association conducted free medical tests on HIV, hepatitis, blood sugar, blood pressure and malaria to to its members.
