Nigeria’s Education Minister Mallam Adamu Adamu has lost his mother, Hajiya Fatima Adamu Baba.
Hajiya Fatima died in the early
hours of Friday, a statement signed by the spokesperson of the FederalEducation Ministry, Ben Gooong has said.The statement said the minister,Adamu, confirmed that his mother died in the early hours of Friday morning.
Hajiya Fatima Adamu Baaba was saidto be the eldest woman in the town of Azare.
“She wasprobably the oldest woman in Azare where she had lived virtually all her lifeafter migrating from Katagum as a young girl more than ninety years ago. “Remarkablytoo, late Hajia Fatima retained all her faculties, was alert and active untilher death due to old age”, the statement read in part.
Hajia Fatimawho died at the age of 109 is survived by seven children—Malam Lawal Adamu,Hon. Ibrahim Adamu, a politician in Bauchi, Malam Adamu Adamu, the currenteducation minister, Hajia Hafsat Mohammed, Hajia Hauwa’u Taudo and Hajia IyaAbubakar.
She was buried at Azare, BauchiState, home town of the minister according to Islamic rites.
