Eid-el-fitir: Bauchi Police command assures security of life, property

Ahead of this year’s Eid-el-fitir festivities, the Bauchi state command of the Nigeria police force has expressed its preparedness to providing a conducive security atmosphere for the citizens of the state.

The Commissioner of Police in the state, Philip Maku who stated this in a press release signed by the command’s public relations officer, DSP Mohammed Ahmed Wakili on Friday, said the force will provide round the clock security in the state.

The release said as part of measures to ensure a peaceful and hitch-free Sallah celebration, the command has put in place, adequate security arrangement.

The release reassured members of the public, especially worshipers that the command will effectively discharge its constitutional responsibility, before, during and after the festive period.

“However, due to the present Global pandemic of covid-19, the celebration is expected to be low-keyed. Muslims in Bauchi state will join their counterparts Nation-wide to celebrate the occasion”, the statement further reads.

The PPRO said, “in Bauchi metropolis, there will be joint congregational prayers at all praying ground”.

DSP Wakili who said that the command have observed with satisfaction, the level of corporation and understanding exhibited by the good people of Bauchi state in compliance with government directives.

He added that, compliance to restriction of movement, social distance, use of face marks, use of hand sanitizers and all regulations against the spread of corona virus are been observed by the citizens.

The press release noted that despite easing of the lockdown order by the Bauchi state government, the command urge citizens to abide by the border closure as well as the 8pm to 6am curfew of the federal government which is still in force.

The commissioner warned members of the public to be conscious of the activities of political thugs and disgruntle elements who may take advantage of the occasion to carry out heinous activities.

“Restive youths and other social deviants may also cash in on this occasion, to forment trouble and unleash mayhem on innocent citizens”, the release noted.

The Commissioner while congratulating Muslim faithfuls on the Eid-el-Fitir celebrations,advised members of the public to be security conscious and report any suspicious movement of individual or group to the nearby Police station or call Command Emergency number : 09053872273 or 08079579006
