Speaking on an Eagle Radio’s live phone-in programme, ANA TARE, Professor Bara emphasized the hospital’s role in advancing medical knowledge and training for doctors both within and outside the facility.

He highlighted the hospital’s commitment to providing quality healthcare and medical education despite the numerous obstacles it faces.

Professor Bara pointed out the significant monthly electricity bills, which range from thirty to fifty million Naira is one of the challenges facing the hospital. This financial burden, coupled with the shortage of manpower, according to him, poses a considerable challenge to the hospital’s daily operations and its ability to meet patient demands effectively.

He called for increased support and resources to help alleviate these pressing issues.

Professor Bara traced the hospital’s history back to 1917, when it started as a small clinic serving the local community.

The facility was upgraded to a General Hospital in 1966, marking a significant milestone in its development. Over the years, the hospital has grown and evolved, continually striving to improve healthcare services and infrastructure.

He identified the hospital’s medical advancements, particularly in the field of urology, stating that the hospital was the first in the entire North-East region to perform laser surgeries for the removal of kidney stones.

This pioneering achievement underscores the hospital’s dedication to adopting modern medical technologies and improving patient care.

Despite the challenges, Professor Bara reaffirmed the hospital’s commitment to its mission of providing exceptional medical services and training.

He expressed hope that with additional support and resources, the hospital could overcome its current obstacles and continue to make significant contributions to the healthcare sector in Bauchi and beyond.
