Ex-Bauchi Gov’ship Aspirant, Sen., Jika Quits APC

Senator Halliru Dauda Jika, a former contestant for the 2023 APC Bauchi governorship ticket, has dumped the APC.

However, reports indicate that the Senator considers joining the New Nigeria Peoples Party, NNPP in the coming days.

Senator Jika who represents Bauchi Central Constituency in the Senate came second at the just concluded governorship primaries of the APC in Bauchi.

The lawmaker in a letter addressed to the Chairman of APC Kafin Madaki Ward, Ganjuwa local government and dated 16th June 2022, said his decision was informed by the unanimous support of his supporters across the state.

“Based on the aforementioned and due consultation with political associates, promptings from my teaming supporters including women and youths, I wish to notify you of my resignation as a member of the party with immediate effect,” the letter read in part.

This medium gathered that Senator Jika is in the pipeline to vie for the Bauchi governorship under the Peoples Redemption Party, PRP, after secretly securing the party’s governorship nomination and expression of interest forms.

Senator Jika is the third big name to dump the APC after the 26th May APC governorship primaries that produced Air Vice Marshal Sadique Baba Abubakar (retired) as the party’s flagbearer.
