‘Fake Soldier’ Lands In Police Net For ‘Extorting Motorists’

Paul Shaltha, a 22-year-old “fake military personnel” has been arrested by the Adamawa Police Command for extorting money from motorists along Sangere Futy in Yola, the capital of Adamawa State.

Operatives of Girei Divisional Police Headquarters, trailed and arrested him following a report by the some aggrieved residents.

Suleiman Ngudoje, the command’s spokesman in a statement confirmed that the suspect was accused of extorting money from tricycle drivers and public members.

He said: “Paul Shaltha, the self-acclaimed soldier was on Sunday arrested for extorting money from a tricycle operator who allegedly violated traffic rules.

“The police operatives while on patrol at Sangere Futy, apprehended the suspect who was sighted parading himself as a military man, threatening and extorting money from the public.”

The police spokesman further said the suspect had admitted to extorting Micheal Stephen, a tricycle driver accused of breaking traffic laws, among other people.
