Family of Seven Die After Eating Local Dish in Zamfara

Seven people from the same family lost their lives after eating Dambu, a local delicacy in Danbaza village, Maradun Local Government Area of Zamfara State.

The victims include two wives of the same husband and five teenagers, WikkiTimes learnt.

The Zamfara State police spokesman, Mohammed Shehu, told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) the command has begun an investigation to unravel the cause of their deaths.

“The incident happened on Monday immediately after the family took the meal prepared as their dinner,” said Shehu. “The police have taken samples of the meal for analysis, and I assure the general public that results will be released to newsmen.”

However, experts want the circumstances investigated, adding it is extremely rare for microbial food poisoning to be life-threatening.

They argued that for microbial food poisoning to be effective, it has to take between 24-72 hours to become severe.
