Gombe Gov Launches Subsidised Fertiliser for Farmers

Gombe State Governor, Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya, launched the sale of subsidised fertiliser for farmers in the state for 2024 farming season.

At the flag-off ceremony held at the fertiliser blending plant in Gombe, Governor Yahaya announced that the fertilisers would be sold at N22,000 per bag, representing a 50 percent discount to alleviate the financial burden on farmers.

Governor Yahaya explained that 50 percent of the total fertilisers would be sold directly to farmers, while the remaining 50 percent would be distributed through cooperative societies.

According to Daily Trust, these cooperatives will have the option to repay the government with a portion of their harvests.

This approach aims to ensure fair and equitable access to fertilisers for all, thereby guaranteeing optimal pricing for farm produce and enhancing food security.

The governor also urged farmers and pastoralists to maintain harmonious and cooperative relationships to prevent conflicts that could destroy lives and property and hinder development.
