Fed Poly Bauchi Gets First PhD Holder in Mass Communication

Mass Communication department of federal polytechnic Bauchi has got its first lecturer who obtained doctorate degree.

Head of the Department Bello Madaki Bello revealed this yesterday during a civic reception and award presentation organized by pioneer students of the department in honour of the first doctorate degree holder Dr Hamid Adamu Muhammed.

Represented by a lecturer in the department Malam Shamsu Dauda Abdu, the head of the department stated that Dr Hamid is the first person in the institution who obtained PhD in Mass Communication adding that he is also among the few lecturers with the highest qualifications in the school of general studies of the polytechnic.

He added that Mass Communication was introduced in the school less than 15 years ago bragging that the department is now one of the biggest in the institution.

He commended the pioneer students for honouring the lecturer saying the action indicated that they were forever appreciative of the knowledge imparted in them by their lecturers.

Also speaking, spokesperson of the ex students, Tanimu Gambo explained that Dr Hamid was one their mentors while they were students pointing out that he had been a humble and dedicated lecturer in the department.

Responding, the celebrant Dr Hamid Adamu Muhammed expressed gratitude to the organizers for identifying with him and asked them to sustain the cordial relationship between the department and former students.

He advised other academics to carry out their duties diligently and guide students properly in their academic pursuits.

He also used the forum to seek forgiveness from the ex students on behalf of other lecturers who might have wronged them in one way or another when they were in the school.
