A female student of Shehu Shagari College of Education in Sokoto State, simply identified as Deborah, has been burnt to death by her colleagues for hurling insults against Prophet Muhammad in a WhatsApp platform.
In a video obtained by WikkiTimes, the victim, clad in a pink-coloured gown was seen lying lifeless as a group of young men lynch her with stones and other harmful objects. She would later be set ablaze by the same people.
The deceased seemed to be protesting against a religious content posted on the platform. “Holy Ghost fire! Nothing would happen to us,” she said in a voice note obtained by our reporter. “This group was not created for useless contents. It was created for academic reasons like test, assignment to be sent here. Not for nonsense or some rubbish prophet.”
She was asked to retract her comment and apologise, but she refused, according to Daily Trust, and that raised eyebrows on the campus.
WikkiTimes learned that the school security personnel tried to rescue her from the scene, but were overpowered by the agitating students.
However, some of the perpetrators had claimed responsibility for the incident. One of them confirmed before a camera that he lit fire on the deceased.
His words: “I killed her. I set her ablaze. Do you see the matches?”
In a circular dated May 12, 2022, the school management announced the institution’s closure indefinitely. It also ordered students to vacate the campus with immediate effect.
