FG Awarded N17m Kebbi Road Project to Ministry of Agriculture — It Was ‘Poorly’ Constructed

The federal government, in the 2022 fiscal year, allocated N17 million to the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development for the construction of an earth road in Kam-Iyaka village, Argungu Local Government Area of Kebbi State, but it was “poorly done.”

The 0.85-kilometre road was awarded to Messrs Treasures Synergy Solution Ltd, according to Tracka, a not-for-profit organisation tracking public projects. The organisation, in a tweet, said the road was poorly constructed.

“We tracked and report that this project was poorly done as it was constructed directly to a personal farm without connection to any village around the community,” it tweeted.

WikkiTimes scrutinsed last year’s budget documents and discovered that the ministry proposed N20 million for the project, but we understand it was reduced to N17 million in the amended budget.

“The community residents say this project is useless and a misplaced priority as they are in dire need of water and not road,” Tracka added. “Residents currently buy water at N25 per jerry can which is approximately 20 liters, as there is no potable water in the community.”

Efforts to reach the contractor of the project proved abortive. A phone number attached to the company’s profile on Google was not connecting. At press time, a text sent to the contact had not been responded to.
