FG to launch medical outreach program against Lassa fever in Bauchi

The Federal Government through the National Primary Healthcare Development Agency sets to launch Medical Outreach Program in Bauchi to help address the scourge of Lassa fever and other diseases.

 Dr Faisal Shuaibu, the Executive Director of the agency disclosed this when Governor Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed of the state paid him a courtesy visit in his office in Abuja.

Dr. Faisal Shuaibu said the program was initiated to reach out to local communities to access basic primary healthcare services notably, immunization and other related diseases.

He added that the agency will use the available healthcare centers in the communities to conduct the program so as to reach out the targeted beneficiaries.

The executive director pledged the readiness of the agency towards supporting the state government to achieve Universal Healthcare Coverage in the state.

He then used the medium to acknowledge to commitment of Governor Bala Mohammed at ensuring effective provision of basic primary healthcare and called for its sustenance.

Governor Bala Mohammed had earlier told the executive director that the visit was to seek for their support on the current outbreak of Lassa fever in the state.

Governor Bala assured the agency that his administration will ensure implementation of all the agreements signed on the provision of Primary Healthcare services.

“I am delighted to be here with you at this critical time when we are looking for the support of stakeholders on the prevalence of cholera and Lassa fever in the state, we will implement all our agreements we signed.”
