‘Fintiri Won’ — Supporters Chant as Protest Rocks Adamawa

Adamawa State is expressing a new wave of chaotic scenes as protesters believed to be loyal to the incumbent Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri, stormed the office of Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) demanding justice be done.

“Give us our mandate, Fintiri won,” the protesters chorused, according to an Adamawa-based online newspaper, TG News.

The state became tense yesterday when INEC Resident Electoral Commissioner in the state, Yunusa Hudu Ari, declared All Progressives Congress’ (APC) Aishatu Ahmed Dahiru Binani the governor-elect after a rerun election.

The protesters, comprising women, youths and some government officials were said to have occupied the streets of Adamawa to drive home their demand.

Chief Felix Tangwami, assistant Campaign Director of the Peoples Democrtaic Party (PDP) where the incumbent governor belongs, led the protest alongside others.

The REC was immediately summoned to INEC Headquaters in Abuja where he would answer questions about his conduct.
