Jigawa State government has distributed relief materials worth three billion naira to over 15000 victims of flood across the state to bring succour to the people.
The executive secretary of the State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA) Dr. Haruna Mairiga disclosed this to journalists in his office in Dutse.
Dr Mairiga said the foodstuffs which include rice, maize, spaghetti, salt, vegetable oil, and medication have been shared to the victims who are taking refuge at 15 different Camps provided to people that have their houses destroyed.
He further stated that the Agency had taken necessary measures against future occurrence of such event.
He stated the State government is equally soliciting more assistance from all and sundry to assist the affected victims.
Dr. Mairiga added that places worse hit by the flood include Nasarawa, Fagam all in Gwaram and Garki and other settlements were all submerged due to heavy rainfall.
He noted that the damages recorded include houses collapse, death of 46 persons, with over 21,000 hectares of farmland affected in 18 local government areas in the state.
He commended Governor Umar Namadi for his commitment and timely intervention in taking prompt measures in rendering assistance to the affected victims through the provision of food, shelter and medication to ameliorate their sufferings.
