The Jigawa State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA) has distributed N12, 340, 000 cash and food items to 567 victims of flood disaster in Garin Dubau Community of Sara in Gwaram LGA.
Presenting the items to the victims, the Executive Secretary, SEMA, Haruna Mairiga said the gesture is to cushion the effects of the disaster on the victims.
WikkiTimes learnt that each victim was supported with a bag of rice, maize, millet and a carton of spaghetti in addition to N20,000 cash.
The SEMA boss told the District Head of Sara that the agency will support one thousand victims of flood disaster in the district, calling on them to find solace in the calamity that befallen them.
Receiving the items on behalf of Gwaram LGA council, the Head of Administration, Muhammad Sunusi Yakubu said the council had earlier distributed Items meant for flood victims in Nasarawan Kila and Kafin Tugga communities provided by the agency.
According to him, in Nasarawan Kila 398 victims received N20,000 cash with 10kg bags of rice, maize, millet and a carton of spaghetti while 68 victims of the disaster in Kafin Tugga received same.
In a remark, the District Head of Sara, Alh Bello Haruna Bako commended the efforts of SEMA and the state government for coming to the aid of the victims, saying the gesture will no doubt be of great help to the victims considering the present harsh economic condition the people find themselves in.
