For 5th Consecutive Time, Doguwa Returns Federal Lawmaker-elect in Kano

The Majority Leader of House of Reresentatives, Alhasan Ado Doguwa, has been declared winner of Doguwa/ Tudun Wada Federal Constituency — the fifth time in a row.

Announcing the result, the Returning Officer, Professor Sani Ibrahim after Saturdays supplementary elections held across eight wards in Tudunwada local government said Doguwa returned elected having scored the highest votes cast.

Doguwa of the All Progressives Congress (APC) polled 41,573 votes to defeat his closet challenger, Yushau Salisu of the opposition New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) who scored 34,831.

WikkiTimes reported earlier that Doguwa/Tudun Wada federal Constituency election was declared inconclusive due to violence and over-voting.

The Returning Officer for the election in February, Ibrahim Adamu Yakasai noted that he announced the result under duress and therefore cancelled the affected areas.

NNPP has earlier approached a court to halt the supplementary election.

Meanwhile, Doguwa is expected to register his interest in the already tense contestation for the speakership of the tenth house of .
