Adamawa State Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri has ordered civil servants in the state to immediately present their certificate or risk forfeiting October salaries.
The Governor said the move is to restore order in the civil service by not allowing unqualified individuals to occupy positions, thus denying younger generations the opportunities.
In a statement by his Chief Press Secretary, Humwashi Wonosikou, Governor Fintiri emphasized that the order is not meant to witch-hunt anyone, however, warned that anyone who fails to comply will result in the forfeiture of October salaries until the certificates are submitted.
“This exercise is not intended to witch-hunt anyone but rather to ensure sanity in the system.”
“No one will be denied their salary if they present their certificates before the end of October”, the governor said.
He further explained that the directive is driven by concerns that some individuals are taking advantage of system failures to engage in wrongdoing.
“These issues must be addressed, and the service should be a haven for scholarship and honesty, rather than a haven for misfits”, he emphasized.
