Former Head of Mass Communication Department, Abubakar Tatari Ali Polytechnic Nazif Abba Pali has bequeathed a website to the department, which was launched on Thursday.
The website which was developed by WikkiTimes Publisher in Bauchi, Mr Haruna Muhammad Salisu was conceived by the former Head of the Department to help students bolster their knowledge of online and multimedia Journalism.
Speaking during a public lecture and launching ceremony of the website organized by the Mass Communication Students Association (MACOSA) , the Publisher who is also an adjunct lecturer in the Department said about 1 million e-books for mass communication will be housed on the website.
He said that the idea of the website was to go global, and help the students familiarize themselves with modern rigors of the profession.
“Gone are those days when students run helter-skelter to look for books to accomplish their assignments. “With this developmental website, all the students and the lecturers need is to have the Usernames and password that will enable them access it and read the books of their choices”, he said.
Haruna who explored the different sections of the website, urged the department to maintain it to enable them move in tandem with modern trends.
While speaking, the Chief launcher of the website, ASCONIAN Ibrahim Gambaki described the project as a good initiative that other departments and institutions should emulate.
Gambaki, a former Deputy Accountant General in the state called on both the staff and students of the Department to make good use of the facility.
