Former NIPSS Boss, Yakubu Sankey Killed by Marauders in Kaduna

Yakubu  Sankey, former Director-General of the National Policy and Strategic Studies (NIPSS) has been killed by marauding terrorists in his hometown in Kaduna State.

WikkiTimes gathered that the former DG was killed at Kamuru in Southern Kaduna.

Gideon Agwom Mutum, a source with knowledge about the incident revealed this via a Facebook post.

Mutum wrote: “My home town Kamuru is bleeding. Prof. Yakubu Sankey killed by Marauders.”

A few hours later, he posted again confirming the death of the elder. 

“Dr. Yakubu Sankey killed yesterday. A professor and lecturer. A farmer and community development expert,” he wrote. “One time DG NIPPS Senior Adviser Centre for Humanitarian Dialogue Contestant of the seat of Bajju traditional Council.”

Mutum blamed his death on the government’s inability to curtail insecurity in the country.

“He was killed by a failed state and the nonchalant attitude of government toward security,” he said.

In 2019, the deceased blamed bad leadership for instability in the country. 

WikkiTimes could not immediately reach Kaduna Police Command. However, Samuel Aruwan, Kaduna State Commissioner for Internal Security and Home Affairs was not available for comment.

At press time, an inquiry sent to him had not been responded to.
